As your fitness professional, I'm going to take you on a step-by-step journey through the exhilarating world of health, fitness and well-being. You will experience my very unique style of training that I have created to directly infuse fitness with fun and positive feelings towards living to you absolute best. cultivated and honed over the past 3 years; a training style that has developed from a mixture of personal experience and diverse knowledge in my field, and, very importantly, from the application of that education from hands on experience with many clients of all ages.
The first step in your whole health and fitness process will be to restore proper structural alignment and functionality to your body. You see, most people have pre-existing misalignments in their body, otherwise known as dysfunctional motor patterns; in other words, the body is compensating and distorting it's normal muscular movement. These faulty patterns could have been developed over a long period of time from situations such as a sedentary lifestyle, past injuries, disease, improper exercise techniques, job-related, repetitive movements etc. From these compensation patterns, certain muscles are in a constant state of overactivity and tightness, and others become weakened. As a consequence, joints and other parts of the body become imbalanced and inflamed. In short, certain combinations of muscles are trying to control movements they weren't designed to control. Ultimately, this leads to pain and a higher risk of injury during life-like and/or athletic activities. You may have been walking around for years with lower back pain, neck pain or hip tightness, just to name a few, and it could have been from a simple and treatable misalignment in your muscular system. So, the essence of my training systems is what you would call Functional Training, which is "training with a purpose"........Re-teaching the body to move mechanically correct, with control, through all planes of motion during life-like or athletic activities.
From this, you can see that jumping right into a rigorous exercise routine without first correcting these dysfunctional patterns and building proper body mechanics can easily lead to reinforcing the painful, negative motor patterns in your body. That is why, quite often, many people who begin random, intense exercise routines eventually end up being in chronic pain and/or injured.
Once you've restored proper body mechanics and posture, any style of proper fitness training, whether it be balance, strength or plyometrics, can safely be applied to the body, and with much higher levels of intensity. Pain and tension will be dramatically decreased, if not eradicated, and normal and diverse human movements will be with a sense of ease as all the parts of the body work together in biomechanical synchronicity. The pain-reducing, liberating effects of my alignment training will give you a new appreciation and understanding of proper fitness training because it's benefits will increase the quality of your life and give you a much increased sense of overall well-being.
